We recently widened a gateway at the back of our customer’s warehouse, giving them a direct forklift route around the outside of their building.
At the back of one warehouse sat a set of gates that had always done their job, until the new forklift needed to get through them. They were too narrow, so the only way to reach the back of the unit was to drive through the warehouse itself.
That meant forklifts crossing a busy floor every time something needed moving, which slowed the team down and took up space they needed for their day-to-day work. The customer wanted a simpler route around the outside of the building, and they asked us to help make it happen.
Ange, our Lead Coordination Manager, went out to meet the customer so she could see the site for herself. She walked the route with them, listened to how they use the space day to day, and talked through what would make the biggest difference to the team working there.
From that conversation, Ange put together a plan for the full job and came back with one clear quote that covered everything from the groundwork to the gates. The customer could see exactly what was included and what it would cost, and they had Ange as their single point of contact from the first visit through to the final gate being hung.
That left them free to get on with running their site while we looked after the rest.
Widening the opening involved groundwork, steelwork, concrete and the gates themselves. Because all of this comes under one roof with HMM, the customer had one team to deal with:
Our customer now has the access they need. The forklift heads straight round to the back of the unit, and the warehouse floor is left clear for the work that happens there. Because one of the new gates also works as a fire exit, the team gained an extra safety feature as part of the same job.
